On the 1st of September the Romanian Scouts were voted the NGO that makes the most impact in Romanian society and were awarded with a prize of almost 10,000 euros. Ionut Oprea, Director of Romania's largest blog agency, launched the campaign in which people could vote online between the 20-30 August.
From the 5th to the 7th October the first meeting of the Growth Network will take place in Berlin.
The 19th European Scout Conference was held in Portoroz, Slovenia from 5 – 11 May 2007. More then 200 delegates participated and the full Report is now available.
On Wednesday, 4th July we had our sixth meeting of European Scouting and members of the European Parliament. Marian Harkin (MEP) hosted the meeting.
On Wednesday 20th June, the President of Croatia Stjepan Mesic made paid special tribute to the Scout Association of Croatia (SiH).
At its meeting in Geneva from 8-10 June 2007, the European Scout Committee noted Resolution 09/2007 'Open Working Methods' from the 19th European Scout Conference and decided to issue an Open Call as a matter of urgency. This followed wide discussion on the areas of work as well as general methods of working that will be used in order to achieve the European Scout Plan 2007-2010.
Four weeks after the 19th European Scout Conference, the newly elected European Scout Committee met in Geneva from 8-10 June 2007. All elected Members were in attendance and worked through a substantial agenda. Mario Diaz from the World Scout Committee also participated, as did the Chairman of the European Scout Foundation. The meeting was supported by the Regional Director.
The Long Term Capacity Building Project in Eastern Europe is initiated and guided by the Danish Scout and Guide Council, and supported by European Region WAGGGS and WOSM - European Region.
The Planning Team for the Training Commissioners Network Meeting met during the weekend 2 - 3 June to prepare the Meeting.
Tailor-made training for the national leadership
Scout leadership in Romania is young and has problems in managing the Association. Recruitment for the national team ensured new generation of leaders, which needed knowledge and skills on management and team building. On their request, two members of the Management Training Team provided the training for the national leadership from 18 to 20 May 2007, in Bucharest.
