The workshop has attracted over 80 local and overseas participants from 12 foreign countries, including Australia, Bangladesh, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Kiribati, Malaysia, Philippines and Singapore.

Dr (Mrs) Han, Vice President of Korea Scout Association (KSA), was the guest of honour at the opening ceremony. Dr Han is the first woman elected to KSA. She cited that the Scout Movement is getting progressive in giving leadership roles to women.

“Events management is both a science and an art, rather than treating it as a mere experience,” said Regional Director Abdullah Rasheed.

In his final report, Workshop Director Simon Rhee, also the International Commissioner of Korea Scout Association, said “the principle and best practices in events management have opened the eyes of participants to basic ideas in events management through a more professional and systematic approach.”

A good number of local and overseas leaders supported the workshop led by Chairman Eric Khoo namely Emma Barker of Australia, Malcolm Tan of Singapore, Aaron Wardle of Australia and Jamal Abdullah of Malaysia. Coordination and management of the workshop was under the leadership of KSA Secretary General Lee Young Ku and the Asia Pacific Region –who were present throughout the event.

Sessions were mainly facilitated by S Prassanna and Syd Castillo from World Scout Bureau/APR. Zainul Abidin from Bangladesh, Paul Kua from Hong Kong and Triadi Suparta from Indonesia joined the workshop as APR Management Sub Committee members.

Jeju island is also the location of the venue of the 2008 World Scout Conference.
