Centennial Jamboree in India gathers 17,000 Scouts and Guides
The Bharat Scouts and Guides India started the year with a special National Jamboree in Kolkata, West Bengal on 02-08 January 2007. India regularly holds a national Jamboree every four years. This time the Jamboree marks the occasion of the 100 years of Scouting and this is to be followed by another special Jamboree in December 2007 to conclude the celebrations.
Around 17,000 Scouts and Guides attended the Jamboree with contingents from Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Hong Kong and Macau (Portuguese). Magnificent performances of girls and boys on opening day showed the various traditions and arts of India. Other activities challenged the young people’s physical and mental abilities, especially the favorite challenge valley and youth forum.
