Millions of Scouts celebrated the 100th anniversary of Scouting in 2007 with exciting programmes, amazing events and incredible projects, showing the world what Scouting is really about and how, together, we can make a difference.
So what now?
It's time to capitalise on all that we have accomplished - learn from our experiences and build on these for the future. We are living in a new centenary of Scouting and need vibrant quality programmes to meet the needs of more young people, dedicated adult volunteers and improved communications in order to raise our profile and encourage more people to get involved!
There are plenty of national centenaries coming up. Canada, Ireland, Malta, South Africa, New Zealand and Australia are already celebrating this year following on from the United Kingdom in 2007. To find out when Scouting was founded in countries around the world, click here.
The 2007 celebrations have shown how much can be gained by taking a strategic approach and some of these approaches, together with ideas, advice, resources and programme activities can be found on these webpages to help you make your plans and the most out of your celebrations.
