The European Scout Symposium is an opportunity for all National Scout Associations to meet with members of the European Scout Committee, to look at how things are working, to look further into the future and contribute to the thinking in developing the next Regional Scout Plan. 5th European Scout Symposium will take place from 5-7 April in Dublin Ireland.
The event will bring together key decision makers of the Region to consult on how the Region has been developing and assessing the impact of the Regional Scout Plan. This will lead to a fully participative approach to help develop the next proposal for the Regional Scout Plan as well as the working methods to enable the plan to become not just a plan for the European Committee, but one that is owned by the NSOs/NSAs that make up the Region.
To involve NSOs/NSAs through their key decision makers to prepare an overview of the strategic direction for the European Scout Region for the period 2013 and beyond and to discuss other matters of concern to the Region.

Participants are requested to arrive on Thursday, 4 April at their convenience to enable a prompt start at 9.00 on Friday morning. The departures are from Sunday, 7 April from 12.30, though lunch is available after 12.30 as part of the event fee.
A broad range of Scouting methods will be used during the Symposium, including audio-visual presentations, group discussions and team tasks, workshops, exhibition and different other active methods.
Possible follow – up
It is expected that the outcomes of the European Scout Symposium will constitute key elements in the development of the European Scout Plan 2013+, which will be endorsed by the 21st European Scout Conference in Berlin.
The main working language at the Symposium will be English. If there is sufficient demand for interpretation of the plenary sessions, the Regional Office will contact NSOs in order to identify people able to assist, utilizing the Region’s equipment.
Working groups of different languages can and will be established to maximise the debate in small groups.

The participation fee is EUR 340.00. The fee covers all accommodation from Thursday, 4 April, and meals and accommodation from breakfast on Friday, 5 April and including lunch on Sunday, 7 April.The fee does not cover travel costs to Dublin,but it covers transport from Dublin airport to the venue and back. The fee is for a bed in a twin room. You may specify a preference for the person whom you will share. Alternatively, you may request a single room at an additional cost of EUR 45.00 for the three nights.
The fee also covers all programme materials and documentation.
Bank information and details for paying the Symposium participation fee will be advised toall participants in their acceptance letter.
