APR Humanitarian Action Workshop

We are glad to announce that the Asia-Pacific Region is organizing the APR Humanitarian Action Workshop in Vajiravudh Scout Camp, Si Racha, Thailand. This event is part of the APR Plan 2022- 2025 under the Social Impact strategic priority with the objective of enhancing strategies in humanitarian action, clarifying the role of Scouts during disaster response and benchmark best practices of NSOs following international principles and laws of humanitarian action.

This workshop will be a learning and networking avenue for all interested participants specially those from countries situated either in the Pacific Ring of Fire and/or the typhoon belt.

Here are the details of the Workshop:

  • Dates: 19-22 October 2023, arrival on 18th and departure on 23rd October
  • Delivery Mode and Venue: In-person at Vajiravudh Scout Camp, Si Racha, Thailand 
  • Registration Fee: USD250.00 per participant to cover accommodation (twin sharing), food for the workshop duration, airport reception, transfer from airport to the venue and back, educational tour within workshop, and materials

Aim and Learning Objectives of the Forum

This workshop is aimed at enhancing strategies in humanitarian action, clarifying the role of Scouts during disaster response and benchmark best practices of NSOs following international principles and laws of humanitarian action.

At the end of the workshop, which will last three full days, participants will be able to:

  1. Implement humanitarian action in their own NSOs following the international framework of humanitarian action such as international principles, sphere standards, and international humanitarian law.
  2. Replicate, in part or whole, best practices of NSOs that have done effective humanitarian action during disaster response.
  3. Understand different approaches in helping different people in various levels of society, starting from the most vulnerable or at-risk.
  4. Adopt a National Humanitarian Action guideline or framework based on local disaster reduction framework (if any) and/or WOSM Humanitarian Action guidelines.

Target Participants

We expect to gather a maximum of 40 national and sub-national level leaders from at least 15 NSOs across the Asia-Pacific, engaged with humanitarian action, emergency response, disaster risk reduction, and others that are in relation to humanitarian action such as resource mobilization in challenging events.
