We, the members of Rosa Scouts and Guides Group, were privileged to have attended the 56th JOTA and 17th JOTI held at the BSG National Head Quarters at ITO on 20th October 2013. We reached there in the morning and met other fellow scouts from Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana, which were 202 in number. The program started at 10 30 am.
All Scouts and Guides were made to sit in the seminar hall and were told about our first competition- essay writing. We had to write an essay on the given 3 topics which included corruption, environmental conservation and natural calamities. Everyone displayed perfect discipline for the next half an hour which was allotted to write the essay. The next competition was painting competition where we saw all creative minds at work.
We were then asked to go to the third floor where we had a chat with a few Bulbuls from Haryana and some Scouts and Guides from NTC Pachmarhi, using facebook. We became friends with them and shared our Scouting experiences and ideas. An hour later, we were asked to go to the seminar hall again where a quiz took place between four teams selected from the whole lot present over there. We enjoyed the quiz very much as we learnt a lot about scouting and its related terms from it.
After that, Mr. Ramaswamy told us about the Messengers Of Peace (MOP) program which is in collaboration with the United Nations. He then called upon Aditya Madan, a rover from our group who showed us various projects on the MOP site and asked us to create our account on the site as well. Moreover, he inspired us to do different projects n upload them using our account. Then we had a fifteen minute lunch break where we all sat in a group in the park on the ground floor and enjoyed the delicious food.
After sometime, the Director of BSG India, Mr. S.S. Chamoli, was welcomed and he presided over the price distribution in the seminar hall. Anmol Khurana, A scout from our group won the first prize in the essay writing competition. Another scout of our group, Aditya Madan, was a member of the team which had won the first prize in the quiz. At the end, Mr. Chamoli congratulated us on the success of the event and guided us to do more work for the society. The program came to an end with the singing of the national anthem. This JOTA JOTI session was loved by one and all.
