Ana Ferreira (26 years old), I am in Corpo Nacional de Escutas (NSO from Portugal) since 1998. Two years ago I joined the Environmental Department National Team, where I develop projects in cooperation with NGO’s, adapting these projects to the scouts’ reality and divulging them in the movement.
I had studied Biology and also Conservation and Management of Natural Resources. Now I’m working in Environmental Education, especially with schools. I am also volunteer in an NGO, Society for the Study of Birds (SPEA).
I came to COP19 to learn more about climate change, mitigation and adaptation process. I think that scouts could have an important role in this issue and I hope to find new ways for us to be part of the solution. This is a topic where our motto "be prepared!" makes a lot of sense.
Additionally I think it is also important to help to promote the Scouts as an organization with a relevant environmental role and to establish new contacts and cooperation with other organizations that could help Scouts to find new ways to create a better world.
