Following are quotes from some of the youth representatives (18-26 years) of the World Scouting Delegation to Rio+20.
![]() It was an incredible experience; taking part in the most important conference of the United Nations in this year, and especially tackling such an urgent issue as sustainability. I talked with a lot of people, governments, NGOs and companies trying to establish a balanced point of view about all the themes that were discussed here. I believe this is the right way.

![]() Rio+20 is for me a step forward to reach this great dream of creating a better world. It is always nice to know that, despite all the disasters generated by mankind, a counterpart exists and works for a common benefit. This event is for me a major motivation to keep building our present filled with FUTURE.

![]() Participating at RIO+20 was an incredible chance and a really great experience. It allowed me to understand better how international negotiations work, following day after day the process, and how politicians but also the civil society deal with the issue of sustainable development today. It strengthened my idea that WOSM has a key role to play in the education of Youth towards a better future. Now, I would like to share this experience as much as possible.

![]() Twenty years after the first Earth Summit, as our planet plunges deeper into an ever-complex environmental crisis, the world is dangerously losing faith in our leaders’ decisions. As over 3 billion youth will soon take care of Mother Earth, I felt it was really important to develop the connections and expertise to further cultivate the relationship between the environmental movement and the world scout movement. Many meetings were successfully held and exchanges with civil society leaders have indicated a disappointed outcome to Rio+20. These leaders have also given me hope for the future we want.

![]() Arriving in Rio de Janiero as part of the WOSM delegation, I was not sure what to expect. But after four days I have seen and heard so much. While I haven't been in the room with the heads of state, I have experienced first hand the passion attendants of the conference have for their countries, their people, and their Earth. Seeing this passion so many times now at Rio +20 gives me a renewed sense of hope that we will see the solution to the environmental and social challenges that face us. |
