Rio+20 People’s Summit and World Scouting’s Exhibition Stand
World Scouting showcased several inspiring projects and initiatives by Scouting at various levels at the People’s Summit through two large exhibition stands which was run by young Scout volunteers from União dos Escoteiros do Brasil.
The People’s Summit of Rio+20 was run largely to ensure that hundreds of civil society organisations get to voice their opinions and thoughts on sustainable development in parallel to the official deliberations at the main Conference run by the UN.
Funded by the Brazilian government, the People’s Summit was held on a half-mile stretch along the beachfront of downtown Rio de Janeiro.
The People’s Summit saw around 15,000 visitors per day and the convention lasted for 9 days.
