Contingent Leaders Meeting - Picking up Momentum in Canada!
Preparations for the 14th World Scout Moot Canada 2013 has moved to the next level with the arrival of 33 representatives from 25 countries for the Contingent Leaders Meeting in Ottawa, held from 20 to 23 September 2012. Arriving from Europe, Latin America, Africa and Asia, the Contingent Leaders came to Canada, to get all the information and tools they needed, not only to help organise their national contingents in the coming months, but also to have first hand experience of some of the activities that will be offered during the World Scout Moot next year.
After an initial meeting and a press conference, the Contingent Leaders were taken on a visit to Ottawa, Canada’s Capital, before heading to the Moot’s Base Camp, ‘Awacamenj Mino’, a magnificent 300+ hectare site situated in the heart of Canadian forests. At the campsite, Contingent Leaders participated in workshops to further their understanding of the Moot’s Programme, the registration system, logistics and ways to promote the Moot. They also got to know each other around campfires, hikes, canoeing and climbing activities. The weekend was concluded with a typical Canadian “Sugar Shack” dinner and an energy-filled concert with a local band called “Swing”, who will compose the Moot’s official song.
After these three intense days of information sharing and outdoor activities, Contingent Leaders headed home – highly motivated – to bring strong contingents with them when they come back in less than a year’s time to the 14th World Scout Moot.
