Scouts: Prepared to build and sustain peace
The United Nations' International Day of Peace - marked every year on September 21 - is a day when individuals, communities, nations and governments highlight efforts to end conflict and promote peace. Scouts worldwide are encouraged to participate in marking this special day in every corner of the globe.
Every Peace Day event provides an opportunity to inspire individuals and empower communities to celebrate the achievements that have been won throughout the year, and to rededicate and commit ourselves to work for a more peaceful, just and sustainable world all year long.
In 160 countries around the world, Scouts build and sustain peace on a daily basis in what is one of Scouting's core values. “Peace Day” is a day to reflect upon the Scout Promise and Law, to share what is being done globally in the field of peace education and motivate others to have the courage to make a difference - a day to share inspirational projects, lead activities and participate in special events.
