10th World Scout Youth Forum officially opens!

More than 160 Scouts from over 85 countries have come together at Wonkwang University, Iksan, in Korea, for the first day of the 10th World Scout Youth Forum. Full of energy and enthusiasm, the participants have already begun to share stories and to make new friends.

The theme of the first day is Creating a Better World, the vision of Scouting. The participants have had the opportunity to participate in the democratic processes of the forum, learnt about the institutions of the World Organization of the Scout Movement and participated in workshops on youth involvement.

A special opening dinner was held by candlelight to promote Earth Hour, an initiative of WWF that encourages individual action to conserve energy and minimise our contribution to climate change.

A highlight of the day was the official opening ceremony which took place in an open air auditorium, with local dignitaries and over one hundred Korean Cub Scouts welcoming the forum participants. Amid fireworks and traditional Korean music and dancing the youth forum was off to a lively start.

The 10th World Scout Youth Forum will run from the 7th of July to the 10th of July.
