Scouting with the disabled
This publication on extending Scouting to 'People with Disabilities' by WOSM covers various areas required to support policy/decision makers in National Scout Organizations as well as leaders in local Scout Groups.
The document includes World Scouting's policy as mentioned in the WOSM constitution, on making Scouting inclusive and has a collection of WOSM resolutions related to Scouting for people with disabilities from past World Scout Conferences. It also attempts to provide an overview with a chapter: 'A global approach and a conceptual framework for understanding the problems of disability and handicap in the world today'. It records highlights of developments in this area, over the years, with detailed information about the historical evolution of Scouting for people with disabilities. There is useful information about Scouts with disabilities in World Scout Jamborees and information about resources in this area, published by various National Scout Organizations.
If you are looking for a document with practical tips and support in order to kickstart your work in extending Scouting to people with disabilities, please refer to our more recent publication published in 2008. 'Guidelines on Scouting for People with Disabilities'
