Comme l'année arrive à sa fin, nous faisons le point sur les événements qui ont eu lieu et prenons aussi le temps durant cette période de fêtes pour se rappeler de ceux qui ont fait que l'année 2010 a été inoubliable.

Patience, Lady Baden-Powell, petite-fille par alliance du Fondateur et épouse de l’actuel lord Baden-Powell, est décédée tôt dans la matinée du samedi 18 Décembre 2010. Elle était âgée de 74 ans. Patience Baden-Powell a dédié sa vie au service du Guidisme, Scoutisme et plusieurs autres organisations caritatives au Royaume-Uni et dans le monde.

Le thème de la 39e Conférence Mondiale du Scoutisme est "Leaders d'Innovation".

Innovation signifie “essayer de nouvelles idées”. L'innovation peut être utilisée pour décrire les résultats de changements, petits et accumulés ou grands et substantiels. Le Scoutisme est un Mouvement, nous nous attendons donc à ce qu'il se développe et change avec le temps. Toutefois, les innovations sont seulement valables quand elles sont combinées avec une conduite efficace et inspirée, capable d'assurer un progrès et une croissance durable.

Lors de la préparation de la documentation en vue de la conférence, nous avons examiné de quelle façon cette documentation avait a été distribuée par le passé et surtout comment cela pourrai être fait à l'avenir. Certains changements sont survenus à la suite de cette réflexion et ces innovations sont présentée sur notre site web à partir d'aujourd'hui.

C'est avec une profonde tristesse que l'OMMS a appris le décès de M. Gathogo Ngugi, ancien membre exécutif du Bureau Mondial du Scoutisme, Bureau Régional Afrique et directeur du Moot Scout Mondial historique qui a eu lieu l'été dernier au Kenya.

La ville de Curitiba au Brésil, hôte de la 39e Conférence Mondiale du Scoutisme qui se tiendra prochainement, vient de gagner le Prix "Globe Award" 2010 attribué aux villes pour leur développement durable.

“Vos actions inspirent des millions de futurs leaders”

The Volvo Adventure is an educational programme that rewards environmental activities and the decision-makers of the future. Run in partnership with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) that has been recognising and rewarding practical actions (projects) undertaken by young people from all over the world to solve local environmental problems. This has been a golden opportunity for Scouts and NSO’s to receive help in preparing and delivering their environment projects and have them recognised internationally by environmental organizations.

The recent seminar on Youth Involvement in the Asia-Pacific Region included members of the planning team that are current and former members of the Young Adults Members Group (YAMG), young adults between the ages of 18 and 26. They had the opportunity to lead sessions and share their learning and experiences with the participants. The YAMG was initiated at the Regional Conference in Brunei in 2004 and it consists of seven young people elected at the Regional Youth Forum. The YAMG has a role to plan the next Regional Youth Forum and each member also sits on a Regional sub-Committee with the Chairman being a member of the Regional Committee.

The first seminar on Youth Involvement in Decision-Making took place recently in the Asia-Pacific Region, hosted by the National Scout Organization of Thailand. This seminar attracted 40 participants from 14 countries, across an age-range from 17-67 years of age. They spent four days sharing experiences on Youth Involvement and discussing how young people of all ages in Scouting can be involved in decision-making in the Unit, Institutionally and in the community.
