On November 19th, in the National Congress of Paraguay, was held the conference: "Scouts, building citizenship”, which had as its keynote speaker Hector Carrer from the World Scout Bureau - Interamerican Region.

This activity was sponsored by the National Congress through the Chamber of Deputies together with the legislative office of Congressman Dr. Dionisio Ortega, Chairman of the Committee on Education, Culture and Religion. The conference was part of celebrations for the fiftieth anniversary of Scout Association of Paraguay.

 

During 22nd and October 23 was held in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, the XVI Central America Scout Summit, which brought together 21 scout leaders from Guatemala, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Panama and the host country Honduras. Also some young people from Youth Networks from El Salvador and Honduras participated very actively in the meeting.

 

The World Scout Bureau, Interamerican Region, in partnership with Scouts of Argentina has successfully completed the first on-line course for Designers and Developers of Youth Programme of the Region. The course provided almost entirely through virtual platform developed for this purpose, culminated on 9, 10 and 11 October with a get-together of the students, all members of the National Team of Scouts de Argentina.

 

On September 17, 2010 Scouts of El Salvador attended to the Salvadoran National Television through the morning show "Morning Live" which airs daily from 8-11 am.

That day the program was entirely devoted to Scouting. Presenters dressed Salvadoran scout uniform, capsules were previously recorded in the Scout House, some national leaders of the Scout Association of El Salvador were interviewed and a good number of young scouts show at the TV cameras a bit of how much have learned in Scouting.

 

The 24th. Interamerican Scout Conference was held from 14th to August 19th at the premises of the Convention Center of the City of Knowledge, Panama.

Over 250 delegates from 32 of the 34 National Scout Organizations comprising the Interamerican Scout Region, met to conduct the work themselves the highest assembly of the Scout Movement in the Americas.

 

El Foro Regional de Comunicación para los países de habla hispana y lusitana de la Región Scout Interamericana fue realizado en Buenos Aires, Argentina, entre los días 17 a 20 de junio pasado.

 

The agreement to lease the building number 172 in the City of Knowledge in Panama, which will be the new home of the headquarters for the Interamerican Scout Office, was signed in the presence of several Scouts members of the Interamerican region. This act officially launched the establishment of the Interamerican Scout Office in Panama. One of the following steps, will be the development of an architectural project to design the interior of the facility.

 

Ciudad Juarez, Mexico - May 25, 2010. It is with a great sense of loss and dismay that the World Organization of the Scout Movement receives the news of the murder of Pedro González (21) and Alejandro Ruiz (18), both distinguished Rover Scouts of the Mexican Scout Association. Pedro and Alejandro were driving back home this Sunday May 23 after offering a Scout service in a village near Ciudad Juarez when they were intercepted by an unscrupulous armed criminal commando who without any reason persecuted their vehicle and shot multiple times at it causing their death. The Mexican Scout Association will mount a Guard of Honor at Ciudad Juarez in their memory, and will conduct a series of activities to promote a culture of peace both within their members and Mexican society.

 

The Scout Association of The Bahamas played host to the Caribbean Chief Commissioner's Conference held at SuperClubs Bahamas ( Breezes) when 26 senior Leaders of Caribbean Scouting where in attendance. Leaders from Jamaica, Guyana, Trinidad & tobago, Grenada, Suriname, British Virgin Islands, Aruba and Curacao. Also in attendance was Michael Bradshaw, Member of the Inter-American Scout Committee, Ron Richardson, Caribbean Executive from World Scout Bureau - Interamerican Region, and Dr Rafe Lucado of Panama Chairman of The Inter-American Scout Conference, which takes place in Panama this year.

The theme of the Conference was " Renewal Of Caribbean Scouting " The Official Opening Ceremony was held at Government House and the sessions at SuperClub Breezes.

 

Paramaribo capital city of Suriname hosted the first instance of the Regional Communications Forums. With the participation of leaders from scouts of Guyana, Grenada, Nevis, Trinidad and Tobago and Suriname. The forums will be held in the different regions of the world, to train over 100 national Scout organizations.

 

Au terme d'un processus mené en collaboration et en plein accord avec le Comité Régional Interamérique du Scoutisme, Luc Panissod, Secrétaire Général du Scoutisme Mondial a nommé M. Raul Sanchez Vaca, du Mexique, en qualité de nouveau Directeur Régional du Bureau Mondial du Scoutisme, Bureau Régional Interamérique.

 

It is with horror and dismay that we heard about the tragedy which struck Chile and it's people.

On-behalf of the World Scout Committee, the Word Scout Bureau and your 30 million brothers and sisters around the world, I wish to share with you the sorrow and dismay that we feel for the Chilean population, and especially for our friends of the Asociacion de Guias y Scouts de Chile who are in emotional and physical pain due to this catastrophe.

 

Del 4 al 11 de enero de 2010 en La Virginia, Risaralda, cerca de 5.000 jóvenes Scouts demostraron que sí es posible el sueño de construir “un Sólo Mundo un Sólo País”

Entre el 4 y el 11 de enero de 2010, La Asociación Scouts de Colombia efectuó el Jamboree Colombia 2010 “Una Aventura en la Naturaleza”, evento que contó con la participación de Lobatos, Scouts, Caminantes y Rovers provenientes de las 24 Regiones del país, así como con delegaciones de Ecuador, Venezuela, Costa Rica y Panamá.

El Jamboree se realizó en las 70 hectáreas de la Hacienda “El Tiempo”, ubicada en el valle del río Mapa en el municipio de La Virginia, Risaralda, siendo una experiencia llena de actividades donde grandes y chicos compartieron en un ambiente de hermandad, alegría, camaradería y sobre todo de Espíritu Scout.
