Papua New Guinea's new Chief Scout

Governor General of Papua New Guinea His Excellency Micheal Ogio is now the Chief Scout of The Scout Association of Papua New Guinea after being invested at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the National Scout Council on 19th November 2011.

Right after his investiture, the Chief Scout addressed the AGM where he talked about the current situation of the association. He vowed that he will support Scouting in the country in whatever way he can.

Shrivastava Prassanna, Director for Development Support and Finance of the World Organization of the Scout Movement, Asia-Pacific Region congratulated the Chief Scout on behalf of the Regional Scout Committee.

Committee Chairman Mr. Ouka Lavaki and Vice Chairman Mr. Daniel Lingnoge were re-elected to the council. Mr Noel Pindi was elected as treasurer, Jacklyeen Boga as secretary and Sumasy Singin as legal advisor. All other existing members of the National Executive Committee, including Chief Commissioner Sere Kala, were also re-elected while others were appointed to the vacant positions: Micheal Pearson who holds the Deputy Chief Commissioner position was appointed as the International Commissioner; Tau Ila, as National Training Commissioner; John Lakani as National Program Commissioner; and Frank Genaia as Public Relations Commissioner.

The last AGM held in Papua New Guinea was in 2008. The Scout Association of Papua New Guinea became a member of World Scouting family in 1976 and is now on its 85th year.
