Currently, the second series of advanced Unit Leaders Training Course is running at PARSA Scouts Training Centre in Kabul from 20th to 26th May 2013.
A delegation of the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM) headed by the Asia Pacific Regional Chairman Dr. Chao Shou-Po is visiting Yangon to strengthen the re-establishment of Scouting in Myanmar. It is nearly after five decades that a WOSM delegation is visiting Myanmar. The delegation had long discussions with the Ministry of Education led by the Deputy Minister His Excellency U Aye Kyu, who was a Scout himself and even attended the meeting in Scout uniform.
The newly formed National Scout Youth Council (NSYC) of the Scout Association of Maldives organized a blood donation camp to mark the National Thalassemia Day to promote and foster a culture of blood donation and encourage new donors to come forward. The event held on 4th May 2013 at the Central Blood Bank was in collaboration with the Maldivian Blood Services.
During the current visit of the regional team to Timor Leste, the team met with the Patron of the Scout Association and President of the Democratic Republic of Timor Leste His Excellency Taur Matan Ruak at his office together with the key leaders of the national scout organization, Uniao Nacional dos Escuteiros de Timor Leste (UNE-TL) from 7th to 10th May 2013, finding ways to strengthen the ongoing partnership being undertaken to keep Scouting in the country in progression.
Rover Scouts, Leaders and Guides from Finland embarked on the journey in their second attempt to climb the Baden Powell Scout Peak in (5890m) in Kathmandu, Nepal.
Bangladesh Scouts mobilized Rovers and Leaders in finding survivors after an eight-storey building collapsed in Savar, Bangladesh on 24th April 2013 which claimed over 300 lives and severely injured hundreds of others. Death toll is expected to rise for many are still missing.
A three-member regional consultancy team joined the key commissioners of the Fiji Scout Association (FSA) for a working meeting on 20th to 25th April 2013, to review major elements related to the management and youth programme of the association.
Suncheon Asia-Pacific Scout Centre (SAPSC) which has been operating since 2009 held its Board Meeting on 20th April 2013. The board reviewed the 2012-2013 activities and made recommendations on the improvement of the Centre.
It was a proud moment for Nepal Scouts when Chief Guest Rt’ Honorable Chairman of the Council of Ministers Mr. Khil Raj Regmi inaugurated the 2nd National Jamboree on 11th April 2013 at the Tikaluli, Chitwan, Nepal after three decades of waiting.
Around 33 participants from 10 countries are participating in the 49th APR Basic Management Course (BMC) for Scout Executives being held at the Universiti Sains in Penang, Malaysia, from 4 to 14 April 2013. The course was officially opened by Hon. Dato' Dr. Junaidi bin Abd Wahad, Political Secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports Malaysia.
The Scouts of China (SoC) is currently conducting its Course for Leader Trainers especially targeting the Chinese-speaking leaders at YangMingShin Scout Centre in Taipei from 2nd to 7th April 2013. The last CLT was held in 2007.
Asia-Pacific Regional Chairman Dr. Chao Shou-Po and World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM) Secretary General Scott Teare visited the national headquarters of Gerakan Pramuka (GP) on 26th March 2013 and met with the GP Chairman Prof. Dr. Azrul Azwar and other key leaders of the largest Scouting nation, Indonesia. Accompanying them was Regional Director Abdullah Rasheed.
