Youth Involvement in Thailand
In the National Scout Organization of Thailand (NSOT) an International Scout Club has been set up and has been running since 2005 . This club comprises a group of young people who can speak foreign languages and have been involved in international events. The club is a resource for both the International Relations Committee and the National Scout Office.
he young people in the Club are increasingly being involved in other Scout activities and have started to run camporees for Scouts with the aim of taking Scouting back to nature and have organised three National Scout Youth Fora. NSOT takes the opportunity of Thailand to open these events up to Scouts from other national Scout Associations that may be interested in attending. Recommendations from each of the fora have been forwarded to the National Committee.
To increase youth involvement in decision-making at community level, the Scouts of the World Award has been introduced and is becoming increasingly popular. It is now being incorporated into the Rover Scout Programme. The Scouts of the World Discoveries and voluntary services currently focus on sustainable development and community development.
