World Scouting has a holistic view of child development, meaning that it regards spirituality as an important component of a child's maturation. Furthermore, many religious groups carry the call of non-violence and brotherhood. By working with these groups, World Scouting is making valuable contribution to strengthening the quality of spirituality in Scouting and also working for peace and global understanding.
The International Link of Orthodox Scouts (DESMOS) was born in June 1997, at the holy site of the Penteli Monastery in Athens, Greece. Its founding expressed our a sincere desire to contribute to the spiritual development of Orthodox Christian Scouts, by helping then to sense the importance of Duty to God and to understand the essentials of B-P's original spiritual vision.

The World Scout Interreligious Forum first started its work informally in 1997 in preparation for the World Scout Jamboree in Chile in 1999. The Forum continues to grow and aims to group together all the religions and beliefs represented in Scouting.
