Asia-Pacific Regional Management Meeting starts today
17 August 2010, Makati, Philippines – Regional Scout Committee Chairman Jejomar C. Binay meets today with executives of the World Scout Bureau for this year's Asia-Pacific Regional Management Meeting from 17th to 18th August 2010 in Makati City, Philippines. This is also his first official visit to the regional office as the Vice-President of the Republic of the Philippines.
In his opening remarks, Chairman Binay said that the management meeting is the best time to assess the region's achievements and challenges. He explained that it is important to remember the noble cause of Scouting, and therefore, the regional team should continue finding ways to reach out more to young people.
Chairman Binay also reminded that there are still global problems happening and it is therefore important to know the strengths and challenges of the region to be able to work firmly on its priorities.
The management meeting is a regular annual event held at the regional office to review the region's last year performance and challenges and to discuss its whole operation for the coming year.
Participants of the management meeting are World Scout Bureau Executive Director Mr Jim Sharp, Management Sub-Committee Chairman Mr Janaprith Fernando, Regional Treasurer Dr. Renato Paras and the Asia-Pacific executives headed by Regional Director Abdullah Rasheed.
Major items covered at the agenda are CNV review, national strategic plan implementation, support to NSOs, operational plan and other administrative matters.
