The President of the Republic of Burundi hosts the Secretary General and the Africa Regional Director of the World Organization of the Scout Movement.

On Wednesday September 12, 2007, His Excellency Pierre NKURUNZIZA, the President of Burundi, hosted the Secretary General of the World Organization of the Scout Movement, Dr Eduardo Missoni as well as the Africa Regional Director, Mrs Rubina Haroon.

These distinguished visitors were in the company of the Chief Commissioner of the Association des Scouts du Burundi (ASB), Dr GAHUNGU Thierry, the Secretary General of the ASB, Mrs NDAYISABA Caritas, the National Commissioner for the Youth Programme, Mr KASSIM Abdoul and the Director of the Project AMAHORO-AMANI, Mr MUSUMBA Gilbert. After the meeting, the world representative of the Scout movement expressed his happiness for the support that the Burundi government offers Scouting in the country, thanks to the President of the Republic and the Minister for Youth and Sports. He took that opportunity to deliver a message of peace and fraternity, a message aimed at building a better world, the latter being the slogan of the worldwide movement. Dr MISSONI highly appreciated the close cooperation between the Burundian Scouts and Project AMANI-AMAHORO of the Great Lakes. It is worth noting that it is for the very first time for the two Scout officials to visit Burundi.
