Jacobs Leadership Project Launched in Angola

The third NSA in the second phase of the Jacobs Project, Angola Scout Association, launched the Project on 4th to 8th May 2006. The other two Associations scheduled to launch the project this year, Rwanda and Seychelles, have already embarked on the implementation.

Angola Scout Association had prepared for the launch by identifying their priorities and their needs. The workshop further identified those needs that will be supported by the Jacobs Project, within the broader scope of the Association’s forward-looking strategies and the Jacobs leadership
Project goals.

Despite all the challenges facing Angola, the Scout Association has made remarkable impact in the community with their community involvement projects. Through the Jacobs’ project, a total of 657 Scout leaders will be trained, besides the production and dissemination of revised Youth Programme materials. The Project will last for 18 months. The launch of the Jacobs Project received live TV and Radio coverage, as well as reports on the print media.

The first six NSAs that rolled out the project in the first year, 2005, are now in their completion stages. 1n 2007, the Scout Associations of
Tanzania, Mozambique and Cameroon will launch the project, bringing the pilot phase to a completion, as originally planned, for three years, in twelve Associations.
