BLAGUET Ledjou Marcel, The new Chairman of the Africa Scout Committee

The Ivorian BLAGUET Ledjou Marcel, is the new Chairman of the Africa Scout Committee. He was elected during the 13th Africa Scout Conference which was held from the 3rd to 7th September, 2007 in Kigali.
He succeeded Mr. Jos Nanette of Mauritius.

Marcel was born on July 8, 1971. He is married and is a father of one child. Since November 2006 he is the Director of Communication and External Relations at the Town Hall of PORT BOUËT, Abidjan. Before his promotion as Director of Communication, he served as:

  • Assistant Librarian at the public library of PORT BOUËT, Abidjan,
  • Head of the community life department, Town Hall of PORT BOUËT, Abidjan
  • Head of department, international relations and print media, Town Hall PORT BOUËT, Abidjan.

He holds a Master's degree in Communication, Administration and Management. He also has a Bachelor's degree in Sociology, BTS Communication and publicity, as well as a Baccalauréat, A2 series.

The newly elected chairman has been extensively involved in Scouting. He attended quite a number of Scout events at the national and international level, and he was already a member of the Africa Scout Committee. He is in addition the National Executive Commissioner of Association des Scouts catholiques de Côte d’ Ivoire. According to him, and in his own words, one of his goals for Africa's Scouting is to "work towards the harmonization of all the statutes in Africa so that good governance becomes synonymous with Scouting". We wish him success in his new responsibilities.
