Women in leadership in Scouting in Africa - At the recent Africa Scout Conference there were women in a number of leadership roles. Survey of women delegates at the Africa Scout Conference - Victoria Nalongo, Vice-Chairman of the Africa Regional Scout Committee, organised a survey of the female delegates to the Africa Scout Conference (Mauritius, September 2004). During a short meeting women shared their experiences and their challenges in relation to access to training and positions of responsibility. There was a commitment to set up a network to provide support to women in associations in the Africa Region.
Equal gender representation in the Eurasia Region - In a survey undertaken to provide a 'portrait' of Scouting in the Eurasia Scout Region, the results on gender and co-education show nearly equal gender representation in the Scout associations. The largest difference in membership is 35:65 female:male. In the adult leadership there is also a good balance of female leaders and in two associations, the Moldovan National Scout Organisation and the Tajikistan Association of Scouts, there are more female leaders than male leaders.
