Networks

Having the benefits of a great “pool” of resources, flexibility and effectiveness, organising a network seems to be one of the most popular working methods in modern organisational life. The European Scout region has adopted this way of work since the European Scout Conference in Iceland (2004) and, at present, they are several networks working in Europe.

The networks in European Scouting fall, generally, in two categories: Functional Networks and Informal Networks.

Functional Networks

Generally, the functional networks reunite commissioners or teams of leaders of a certain level, responsible for a certain area or having a certain function in the Association (International, Youth Programme, Training, etc.)

The network is organised with the support of the Regional Office as a result of a Conference resolution or at the initiative of the Committee.
In Europe, we have at the moment:

The European Youth Programme Network

The European Adult Resources Network

The European Developement and Support Team

The European Relationship and Funding Team

Informal Networks

The informal networks reunite people from different backgrounds and Associations with an interest in developing Scouting (North-South, Overture, Sea Scouting, Camp Managers, etc.)
The network is organised without the direct support of the Regional Office, totally at the initiative of some Associations or individuals. The role of the Regional Office is be to observe, to advice and to support in some aspects.

In this category we have in Europe:

The Sea Scouting Network

The North-South Network

The Overture Network

The Network of Young Representatives

The European Guide & Scout Centre Managers Network

The European Growth Network
