Leaders of the World Scout Foundation visited the United Arab Emirates at the end of October to meet with top government and Scouting representatives. Their purpose was to increase the visibility of Scouting in the UAE, strengthen relationships with UAE leaders, and obtain financial support.
The visit was hosted by the deputy ruler of Abu Dhabi, His Highness Crown Prince Mohammed bin Zayed who acknowledged the importance of Scouting as a global force in the education of young leaders.

His Majesty the King of Sweden was in Vienna, Austria in mid-September to help Scouting. In a press conference he and other speakers praised the work being undertaken by Scouts in Austria, and he spoke about the values of Scouting to himself and to society.
The press conference was among several activities of the World Scout Foundation, of which he is the Honorary Chairman. It resulted in considerable positive publicity.
12 September 2008: World Scouting and The Board of the World Scout Foundation regrets to announce the passing away yesterday of its former Chairman, and long-time champion of Scouting, Klaus Jacobs.
Born in Germany in 1936, Klaus Jacobs was a famous businessman and entrepreneur who held a keen lifelong interest in the Scout Movement. A Vice-Chairman and then Chairman of the World Scout Foundation, Klaus was convinced that the Movement could help young people play an active role in building their own futures and in training young leaders capable to take part in the development and social, cultural and economic progress of their country.
Members of the World Baden-Powell Fellowship met in Seoul, Korea 3-6 April 2008. Their Majesties the King and Queen of Sweden participated in the event. He is Honorary Chairman of the World Scout Foundation.
An estimated 10 million Scouts have participated in peace activities in 110 countries following a programme which was started by Saudi Arabia’s King Abdullah and co-sponsored by Sweden’s King Carl XVI Gustaf. It has been the largest and most successful programme ever undertaken by Scouts worldwide.
Following upon the success of the royal table cloth and the royal place mats, the World Scout Foundation is offering sets of 10 royal napkins.
On 15 January 2008 Baden-Powell Fellows from the UK Chapter met at Baden-Powell House in London to celebrate the centenary of the publication of "Scouting for Boys" on 15 January 1908. The present Lord Baden-Powell signed copies of his grandfather's book. The book remains a best seller and has been translated into 87 languages.
19 October 2007: The Board of the World Scout Foundation regrets to announce the passing away today of its former Chairman, and long-time member, Sven Erik Ragnar of Sweden.
Some 250 Baden-Powell Fellows and guests attended a formal dinner at which the Emperor and Empress of Japan, and the King of Sweden were royal guests of honour. The event was held 4-5 October 2007.
