GSA ADULT LEADERS UNDERGO TRAINING IN MAP READING AND FIRST AID TRAINING AT THE GHANA MILITARY ACADEMY, TESHIE-ACCRA. The Ghana Scout Association as a youth movement with a structured training programme is committed to ensuring that among other priority areas, every scout must understand and be able to apply the principles of map reading and first aid. In this regard, the Ghana Scout Association sought the expertise of the Ghana Armed Forces to train Adult Scout Leaders on Map Reading and First Aid Training. This trainer of trainers residential course was held at the Ghana Military Academy for 24 Adult Leaders from the National Headquarters, Greater Accra Region, Eastern Region, Brong Ahafo Region, Ashanti Region and the Northern Region from the 9th – 20th December, 2013. Participants were taken through topics in Introduction to Map Reading, Maps, Scale and Distances, Contours and Reliefs, Grid System, Compasses, Bearing, Magnetic Variations, Map Settings and Position Finding. As part of the practical sessions, scouts were taken to Amahria, located on the outskirts of Accra to identify features on the ground. Participants were supervised and assessed in patrols each with a leader. This aspect of the training helped participants to experience how the features looks like on the ground as compared to that of the map. The course in first aid was very practical, participants were taken through Introduction to First Aid, Personal and Field Hygiene, Dealing with Unconscious Casualty and Clearing an Obstructed Airway, Exhale Air Resuscitation, Haemorrhage, Bleeding, Wounds, Treatment of Snake and Dog Bites, Burns and Scalds, Fractures, Improvised Splints and Bandages, Used and Carriage of Stretcher and Composition of a First Aid Box and its uses. These topics were supervised by a health professional from the 37 military hospital to broaden participants knowledge of the course and how to act when cases happen in real life situations. Participants were again assessed in patrols as they worked as a team to simulate real life scenarios. Traduire

BAAH YEBOAH ISAAC is my name, Executive Commissioner of the Ghana Scout Association, National Headquarters. My Friends call me 'SCORPION' simply because i was sting by one in 1997 at a Scout Training Camp in the Brong Ahafo Region of the Republic of Ghana. I enjoy outdoor life, body building, swimming, diving, hiking and meeting with my colleagues in scout. I like when people makes me laugh, when time and place doesn't matter and we can agree not to agree and that is ok. I am blessed with GREAT friends, many different adventures all over and the possibility to enjoy myself even at the dullest of moments all by myself. I can't stand homophobia or when people think they are better because they have money, or fame or just white skin. I believe men and women are GREAT humans, and have much more in common than differences. I also believe that what you give is what you get! TAEIN!!! I think we all should try to be the best we can and only you are responsible for your own drive in life! I also know that “Speaking pleasant words without practicing them is like a fine flower without fragrance.” Young people in focus and the ability to grow in body, mind and spirit in community with others can be achieved through the Scout Method. Outdoor recreation plays a central role in scouting. But, Scouts get to experience an outdoor activity which creates a natural interest in nature and the environment. Outdoors with environmental awareness is among the values that scouting is centered on. Together, this shows that our union in an environmentally conscious outdoor recreation and people-centered, completely voluntary Scouts and Guides is a nonprofit organization that depends on the individuals, organizations and sometimes business support activities. None of the leaders who work with Scout groups around the country receive any incentive for this. All they do is done at their leisure and the sacrificial spirit that is embedded from within. They are driven by their strong commitment to scouting, children and adolescents.
I respect any religious views with love, peace and understanding for others! And my mum use to say that, “Do unto others what you want them to do unto you.”, I love to smile all the time not forgetting my extrovert behavior of making friends laugh at all times. One of the things I hate is DRUGS because 'DRUGS AFFECTS ALL' I have a personal code that I live by “DELAY IS DANGEROUS”. This code keeps me on with the notion that, what needs to be done, must be done well on time as possible as I can. LOVE YOU ALL
