7. mai 2013

Rover Scouts, Leaders and Guides from Finland embarked on the journey in their second attempt to climb the Baden Powell Scout Peak in (5890m) in Kathmandu, Nepal.

Heading the team was team leader Nepali Naresh Maharjan, with other sherpas, until the end of expedition on 25th April. Although, the team attempt was not successful due to bad weather condition, the team was able to reach up to the Base Camp in Langtang Village.

The Finnish team spent one-year of preparation, which in the process, discovered Nepal's beauty. “We made sure everybody was familiar with Nepal, its culture, geography, the area and the mountain itself, routes and even the tour operator. Of course, our contact with Nepal Scouts was intensified as the time of the expeditions came closer," recalled expedition leader Jennamari Terävä.

The first successful expedition was in 2010 which most of the participants then served as staff in this recent climb.

Nepal Scouts congratulated the team for their relentless efforts from the preparation to the last minute of attempting to climb the summit.
