September 21st is the International Day of Peace and this year the United Nations, with the support of all member countries, agreed that it be observed as a Global Ceasefire and day of peace and non-violence. The Countdown To Peace - an International countdown to Peace Day - was launched on June 13, 2003.

Peace is not as simple as black and white.

This report celebrates the work carried out by Scouts in communities the world over to build peace and understanding.

Beirut, August 28th, 2006 - The Secretary General of the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM), Dr. Eduardo Missoni, today completed his mission in Lebanon, launching the International Scout Solidarity project in support of the rebuilding and Peace process in Lebanon and in the Middle East region. World Scouting with its 28 Million members in 215 countries and territories is the world largest Youth Educational Movement.

The camp has ended, the flag has been lowered and the participants are returning home with memories of a truly great event - European Roverway 2006.

Bialystok, Poland - World Scouting has been awarded the Medal of Tolerance by the Ludwig Zamenhof Foundation and has been accepted on behalf of the Movement by Secretary General Dr. Eduardo Missoni.

"S'attaquer ensemble à la pauvreté", tel est le thème qui a été choisi cette année pour célébrer la Journée internationale de la Jeunesse. Selon le Rapport Mondial sur la Jeunesse 2005, plus de 200 millions de jeunes, soit 18% de tous les jeunes, vivent avec moins d'un dollar par jour et plus de 88 millions d'entre eux sont au chômage. Il est d'autant plus urgent d'agir pour réduire la pauvreté au sein de cette catégorie de la population que son développement en dépend.

Cette année, pour sa deuxième édition, le Roverway a lieu à Florence, en Italie jusqu'au 14 août.

"Ose Partager" est le thème de ce rassemblement international destiné aux Scouts aînés (16 et 22 ans) organisé par la Région européenne Scoute et la Région Europe du Guidisme mondial.

L'édition revisée de la Charte de Marrakech vient d'être publiée. Elle a été approuvée par le Comité Mondial du Scoutisme le 17 avril 2005, à Rome, et adoptée par la 37e Conférence Mondiale du Scoutisme (Hammamet, Tunisie), avec pour objectif de renforcer le partenariat dans le Scoutisme.

C'est avec une crainte toujours plus grande que nous voyons se développer le conflit et la tension au Moyen-Orient. L'Organisation Mondiale du Mouvement Scout et l'Association Mondiale des Guides et des Eclaireuses ont de nombreux membres en Israël, au Liban et en Palestine et leur sécurité et celle de leurs familles nous préoccupent beaucoup.

Geneva, World Scout Bureau, 14 July 2006 - In agreement with the Africa Regional Scout Committee, Dr Eduardo Missoni, Secretary General of the World Organization of the Scout Movement, has appointed Mrs Rubina Marivonne Haroon, 44, from Seychelles as the new Regional Director for the World Scout Bureau - Africa Regional Office.
