The 7th Euro-Arab meeting took place in Tunisia from the 1st - 6th November 2006. Held every three years, the Euro-Arab meeting is a wonderful opportunity for intercultural dialogue between the regions.

 

Fady Malak Saad from Egypt has been recognised by the World Bank as author of one of the top one-hundred essays that addresses the issue of youth as agents of change.

 

The World Scouting Report was received with great enthusiasm in Africa. The Vice President of the Republic of Kenya, His Excellency Moody Awori launched the report in the presence of an audience of over 700 people. The participants included senior dignitaries from various UN agencies, other youth organisations, development agencies, government officials, Scouts and Scout leaders.

 

Every seat was filled in the room of the third committee of the UN General Assembly as the United Nations Secretary-General's Study on Violence against Children was launched in New York on 11th October 2006.

 

From Friday night, Geneva time, and throughout the weekend, an international team of Scouts operated the world station. The JOTA and the JOTI organisers came together to coordinate the global Scout network on-the-Air and on-the-Internet, for a very special weekend dedicated to communication and information technologies.

 

Le lancement de la nouvelle marque du Scoutisme mondial est accompagné par l’ouverture d’une nouvelle plateforme sur la toile, une plateforme globale et multilingue. Ce nouveau site intègre les contenus de l’ancien site de l’OMMS et des six sites régionaux qui co-existaient depuis que le Scoutisme s’était mis à la communication électronique.

 

Le Scoutisme mondial est fier de dévoiler sa nouvelle identité de marque, résultat d’un travail entrepris en juillet 2004 et qui se décline dès aujourd’hui sur cette nouvelle plateforme web.

 

In the presence of Regina Monticone, Coordinator of the Youth Employment Network and Dr. Eduardo Missoni, Secretary General of WOSM, the first World Scouting Report made its global debut as what is hoped will be an important and informative resource for the Movement and its partners.

 

At a special event hosted by Alessandro Battilocchio, MEP Italy, in the presence of Ján Figeľ Member of the European Commission responsible for Education, Training, Culture and Multilingualism, the first World Scouting Report was launched in the European Parliament.

 

Wayne M. Perry a été unanimement coopté par le Comité Mondial du Scoutisme pour remplacer Steve Fossett, qui pour des raisons liées à ses activités d’aventurier bien connues du grand public, avait demandé d’être déchargé de son mandat. Malgré son départ du Comité mondial, Steve Fossett reste bien entendu très attaché au Mouvement. On attend avec impatience son succès dans de nouveaux exploits.
