Japan Launches 2007 Programme
May, 2004
The Scout Association of Japan has announced a series of actions from 2004 to 2007 to vitalize groups and councils throughout Japan.
Starting now, in 2004, all members will wear the official Centenary Badge on their uniforms. They bear the theme "One World One Promise" in Japanese. (Japan is the first country to receive approval to manufacture the badges.)
Japan's Centenary programme includes:
- Implementation of the worldwide Gifts for Peace progamme
- "Step up to 100 Activities", designed to increase membership and to encourage the advancement of every Scout
- Hosting a National Venture and National Rover Moot
- Publishing resources to support these programmes
- Additional programmes will be designed by Local councils to meet their specific needs to increase membership.
"This is very important for the development of Scouting and we want to ensure that the Centenary is a highly significant and memorable experience," said Mr. Saba.
