7 août 2007 : Au terme de 12 jours pleins d’aventures après que le duc de Kent et le prince William aient ouvert le 21e Jamboree scout mondial, à Hylands Park dans l’Essex, 40,000 scouts regarderont ce soir le soleil se coucher sur la cérémonie de clôture, puis entameront leur voyage de retour vers presque tous les pays du monde, où ils pourront faire part de leurs expériences à leurs amis, leurs familles, leurs confrères et consoeurs dans le mouvement scout.
In June 2007 Alcoa Foundation and the World Organization of the Scout Movement decided to launch a joint programme promoting sustainability awareness. It will be initially rolled out in five European countries and will be funded by a two-year $205,000 grant from the Alcoa Foundation. The 21st World Scout Jamboree in Southern England, taking place until 8th of August, is a good opportunity to start to involve young people in the programme. Alcoa Foundation has supported a series of workshops based in the “Global Development Village”, where the Jamboree participants, aged from 14 to 17, reflected on issues and challenges facing the global community.
Arianna Corradi a parcouru plus de 1200 km pour venir d’Italie au 21e Jamboree scout mondial au Royaume-Uni. Âgée de 29 ans et poursuivant un rêve de jeunesse, cette scoute italiennea quitté sa ville de résidence, Susa (près de Turin, en Italie), il y a déjà 2 mois pour se diriger vers le Jamboree. Accompagnée de son meilleur ami, un cheval nommé Borbera, elle a connu un parcours aventureux avant d’atteindre le lieu où plus de 40,000 scouts de partout dans le monde sont rassemblés pour célébrer le centenaire du scoutisme.
Ólafur Ragnar Grímsson, président de l’Islande, ainsi que son épouse, ont profité de toute une journée d’activités au Jamboree scout mondial qui se déroule au Royaume-Uni.
Le président a été accueilli à Hylands Park par des représentants du contingent islandais et il a visité Hylands House.
Scouts from across the world have linked live to the International Space Station at a World Scout Jamboree.
“Scouts helped me to learn a lot about myself and to take care of myself in a harsh environment like the woods, or the space station.” These were the words of Flight Engineer, Clayton Anderson during the live link up between the International Space Station and Scouts at the 21st World Scout Jamboree at Hylands Park in Essex.

Taking advantage of the wonderful weather outside, the president of the World Scout Parliamentary Union (WSPU), Mr. Abdourahmane Sow responded to the invitation of the Secretary General of World Scouting, Dr. Eduardo Missoni and visited the Jamboree which accommodates more than 40,000 people.
