Indonesia hosts regional management course
The 47th Asia-Pacific Region Basic Management Course for Professional Scout Executives at the Cibubur Scout Camp in Jakarta, Indonesia from 27th August to 10th September 2008 gathered over 36 professional Scout executives from nine countries (India, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Mongolia, Pakistan, Philippines, Papua New Guinea, Thailand and Sri Lanka) getting the latest management techniques that will bring about impact and effectiveness in their professional responsibilities.
Dr Prof Azrul Azwar, Chairman of the Gerakan Pramuka/Indonesia opened the workshop and saw it as an opportunity to advance Scouting in many ways.
This two-week management workshop looked into the concept of Professional Scout Executive service, WOSM major policies, financial management, branding and communications strategy and events management with the support of local and overseas speakers consist of Dr Mohd Effendy Rahab (Singapore), Dr Mak Wai-Ming (Hong Kong) and Mr Joko Murshito (Indonesia) who is the course director. Scouts Canada has deputed Scout Executive Jeff Benson to assist the course.
Representing the regional office were Regional Director Abdullah Rasheed and Director S Prassanna Shrivastava.
Programme Sub Committee. Just a week earlier, Gerakan Pramuka organized their National Youth Programme Development Workshop from 21st to 24th August 2008 supported by APR Programme Sub-Committee Chairman Mr Alfian Amura, Vice-Chairperson Ms Julie Creed and APR representatives Regional Director Abdullah Rasheed and Youth Programme Director Syd Castillo.
The workshop was a concrete step taken by the association to revitalize Scouting in this country. It was attended by a combination of 19 Commissioners and young people from various parts of the country looked into the World Programme Policy and the eight steps to Programme Development based on the Renewed Approach to Programme.
