Better Scouting through quality and effective adult leaders
Giving importance to the effective delivery of leader training, Gerakan Pramuka Indonesia (GPI) hosted the Course for Leader Trainers (CLT) as a good start to reinforce the role of adults in Scouting.
As one of Gerakan Pramuka's seven areas of “Revitalization Program,” they initiated the CLT to update their trainers with the technical support of the Asia-Pacific Region from 13th to 19th November 2008 at the Cibubur Scout Camp in Jakarta, Indonesia getting the participation of 28 Assistant Leader Trainers (ALT) including one overseas participant from Maldives.
At the one-week training of trainers course, seasoned resource persons delivered the five important areas of training: Scouting Knowledge, Training Skills, Adult Learning Skills, Leadership and Personal Development Skills. They were Dr Cyrus Wadia (India), Dr Effendy Rajab (Singapore) and Dr Evelina M Vicencio (Philippines), Drs Endy Atmasulistya (GPI), Sri Saprapto (GPI), Mr Thian Hiong Boon (APR office) and Mr Joko Mursitho as the Course Leader.
With the extensive sharing both from the resource speakers and the participants, the course turned out to be a stimulating and a good learning experience for shaping effective leader trainers.
GPI Chairman Dr Azrul Azwar, expressed at the closing ceremony that for the benefit of young people, it is important to have capable and dedicated leader trainers. He saw the course as an instrument to motivate them further to create a more a systematic approach in creating quality Scout leaders.
