After nearly 10 years, it was a golden opportunity for the regional team consist of Regional Scout Committee member Mr Prakorb Mukura and Regional Director Abdullah Rasheed to visit Vietnam early part of March 2008.

 

First time this year, members of the Asia-Pacific Regional Scout Foundation Management Committee met from from 23rd to 24th of February in Makati City, Philippines hosted by the Regional Chairman Jejomar C. Binay.

 

On 9th February the first Jamboree Organizing Committee meeting was held at the Mt. Makiling, Los Banos, Laguna, Philippines, the venue of the 26th Asia-Pacific Regional Scout Jamboree in 2009.

 

To ensure the success of the very first national Scout jamboree in Cambodia planned to take place sometime in December this year, the working team comprised of Programme Sub Committee members Mr Jose Eduardo Delgado, Dr Prapatpong Senarith and APR executive Syd Castillo met with the National Scout Association of Cambodian Scouts (NACS) leaders from 4th to 6th February and closely looked into the ground work for the preparation of the first ever national Scout Jamboree which is planned to hold near the Angkor Wat temples, a world heritage site.

 

Known for its active involvement in community service, Bangladesh Scouts hosted the International Centenary COMDECA from 7th to 14th December 2007 in the Cox’s Bazar, southeast of Dhaka, Bangladesh giving the local and overseas participants a taste of nature and environment, local inhabitants, health and environment development activities.

 

The capital city of Pakistan served as the gathering point as 28 Scout Leaders from different countries took part in the Asia-Pacific Regional Youth Programme Development held from 10th to 14th of December 2007.

 

Members of the Regional Governance Review Task Force and some members of the Regional Scout Committee and other Scout Leaders in the region met in Manila from 15th to 16 December 2007 and discussed the required preparations for the forthcoming World Scout Conference in Korea in July 2008.

 

In his official residence, Bangladeshi President Iajuddin Ahmed welcomed the regional team and conferred the highest award of Bangladesh Scouts, the Silver Tiger, to Past Chairman and APR Scout Foundation President Mr Eric Khoo and Regional Scout Committee Vice-Chairman Mohammed Ali Khalid.

 

The promise of the regional solidarity reigned at the 22nd Asia-Pacific Regional Scout Conference held from 18th to 23rd October in Tokyo, Japan.

 

A total of 123 participants from 26 National Scout Organizations including guests from Afghanistan and Saudi Arabia gathered together to celebrate the biggest Scout Youth Forum ever held in the region from 12th to 15th October at the National Youth Center in Tokyo, Japan.
