Image and Description
Baton signifies peace, which is pass on from one place to another creating a friendly and open environment where peace stays and grows.
The peace baton is made of gold-plated brass metal which signifies the strength of character of Scouts tested by challenges, they meet along the way as they continue to live under the guiding principles of Scouting’s core values. Accompanying this strength is their sensitivity and compassion.
Gold represents success and power and the continued existence of Scouting in communities across the world. Scouts had long been in the forefront to fight against all forms of violence to people and to the environment.
The idea of having batons separately and simultaneously, passing on to different parts of the region to be attached together at the end of the journey, symbolizes the unity of Scouts in their culturally diverse ways.
To highlight the importance of Rovers in the Scout Movement considering their idealism, the Rovering programme gives them an opportunity to become a collective strength in influencing the issues and helping the society to resolve them. Rovers are not only wanderers of the earth, they are also keepers of peace and builders of friendship which they share with all those they meet along the way.
