Du 5-9 Avril, Mlle Esther Mbui a effectué une visite au Bangladesh dans la Région
Asie-Pacifique, pour prendre part à l’atelier sur l’organisation des événements/ activités, organisé par les Scouts de Bangladesh en collaboration avec le Bureau Mondial Scout, Région Asie-Pacifique.
M. Euloge ISHIMWE est né le 18 février 1978 au Rwanda. Il devint Scout à l’âge de 13 ans, au sein de l’Association des Scouts du Rwanda. Plus tard, l’âge de 19 ans, il devint Responsable scout affilié à l’Association des Scouts du Kenya. Au cours de cette période, il participe à de grands événements scouts, notamment le Jamborée scout africain en 2000, où il fut membre de l’équipe de service. Il est célibataire et n’a pas d’enfants.
Depuis Novembre 2006, les scouts de Namibie peuvent être fiers, car ils ont une nouvelle branche: la branche aînée - route. Le dimanche 5 Novembre 2006, les 3 premiers routiers de l'Equipe de Routiers de Windhoek ont été investis par le Commissaire Régional, Ben Strohbach.
The World Scouting Report was received with great enthusiasm in Africa. The Vice President of the Republic of Kenya, His Excellency Moody Awori launched the report in the presence of an audience of over 700 people. The participants included senior dignitaries from various UN agencies, other youth organisations, development agencies, government officials, Scouts and Scout leaders.
Dr. Eduardo Missoni paid a courtesy call to the Kenya Scouts Association (KSA) when he was in Nairobi in June. During the call, he participated in the Association’s tree planting exercise, which is part of KSA’s Gift for Peace to mark the Centenary Celebrations.
There are two explanations on the origin of the Left Handshake in Scouting.
The third NSA in the second phase of the Jacobs Project, Angola Scout Association, launched the Project on 4th to 8th May 2006. The other two Associations scheduled to launch the project this year, Rwanda and Seychelles, have already embarked on the implementation.
The three coordinators; Ousman Jatta, Jean Marie Bwanakweli and
Holbert Jean from Gambia, Rwanda and Seychelles respectively went through this course on 24th April to 12th May. Rwanda and Seychelles have entered into the project in the second year, 2006, while The Gambia is on its last phase of the Project.
Seychelles Scout Association has planned for a 50% growth in the next 18 months, through programmes and activities supported by the Youth Leadership Development Project for Africa Scout Region, with financial support from the Jacobs Foundation.
The Jacobs supported Leadership Project in Africa Scout Region has now been launched in Rwanda Scout Association. The Project was received with enthusiasm and gratitude by the leadership of the Association. At the launch, the Association’s President, Dr Emmanuel Gasakure, who is also a member of the Africa Scout Committee, said that the Project was very timely for Rwanda, as the Association was now embarking on the implementation of their three-year National Development Plan. The Project will help to scale up the leadership and management skills for the youth and their leaders in the Association.
