Partnerships for Change - a web-based resource to support the Marrakech Charter - In 1994, a charter on Partnerships was agreed in Marrakech – called The Marrakech Charter. This charter provides a framework for all partnerships in Scouting. The web-pages support this Charter by providing information, resources, tools, examples, links to other web-sites and the text of the Charter in each of the areas.

The Murray Darling Rescue - an environmental project in Scouts Australia - Over 700,000 trees have been planted in a four year period to help save two of Australia's largest river systems. And more than 7,200 Scouts, friends and families have been involved in this successful project which helped Scouts Australia in being proactive in environmental management, teaching them the importance of the natural environments and working towards their award scheme badges, generating corporate relationships, and displaying Scouting in a very positive light in local and national media.

Memorandum of Understanding with UNICEF - A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed jointly by Carol Bellamy, Executive Director, UNICEF and Dr. Eduardo Missoni, Secretary General of WOSM on 8 April 2005, in Geneva at the UNICEF Headquarters for Regional Office for Europe. This recognises the long history of collaboration worldwide. Activities have included campaigns and projects for the elimination of polio, oral dehydration therapy, community development, sanitary latrines, life-skills based education, girls’ education, and fighting HIV and AIDS. UNICEF and WOSM will work together to help equip young people with the knowledge, skills and attitudes to contribute in the building of a more peaceful world.

Memorandum of Understanding with the Millennium Development Campaign: Scouting and the United Nations call upon the youth of the world - In Rome, on 22 April 2005, the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the United Nations Millennium Campaign. The United Nations were represented by Ms. Eveline Herfkens, Executive Coordinator of the Millennium Campaign; Dr. Eduardo Missoni, WOSM’s Secretary General, co-signed the agreement which establishes a programme between WOSM and UN aimed at helping young people to become more aware of development issues. On the same occasion, WOSM officially launched its "Youth of the World" campaign. Dr. Marie-Louise Correa, Chairman of the World Scout Committee, opened the signing ceremony in the presence of His Majesty The King of Sweden, Honorary Chairman of the World Scout Foundation, and Mr. Walter Veltroni, the Mayor of Rome.

Memorandum of Understanding with GTZ (German Agency for Cooperation to support World Scouting operations) - Dr. Eduardo Missoni, Secretary General of World Organization of the Scout Movement, and Dr. Cornelia Richter, Director General of the Development and Planning Department of GTZ, signed the Memorandum of Understanding between GTZ and WOSM, in Eschborn, Germany, at the GTZ Headquarters on 27 April 2005. The evaluation of the potential and identification of the fields of cooperation has been analyzed by WOSM Project Officer Zurab Khamashuridze, from Georgia, who is on a 6-month project internship.

Scout Environmental Projects in Africa

. Kenya: Clean Up Nairobi Campaign was carried out in the nineties in association with the City Council of Nairobi and UNEP. The initiative aimed at promoting a clean environment in the city by mobilising Scouts and members of the public in cleaning up the streets, unblocking drainage and proper disposal of wastes. It was also a day to create awareness on environmental protection through speeches, poems and drama.

. Ethiopia: In partnership with UNEP, the Addis Ababa Scout Association undertook the following activities in favour of the environment:

• A workshop on environmental protection, air pollution and recycling in December 2002.
• From June this year, a project on forestation and re-afforestation to alleviate desertification has commenced.

. Niger : The work of Niger Scouts Association in environmental protection spans over five years. The Scouts have been involved in the hold back the desert tree-planting campaign that they refer to as "greening the sahel" making it one of their core activities in the Youth Programme.
