The Alliance of Youth CEOs

World Scouting together with the other world-wide youth organisations form the Alliance of Youth CEOs.
This alliance is represented by the Chief Executive Officers of the following organisations:

  • YMCA (World Alliance of YMCAs)
  • YWCA (World Young Women's Christian Association)
  • WOSM (World Organization of the Scout Movement)
  • WAGGGS (World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts)
  • IFRC (International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies)
  • IAA (International Award Association)

The Alliance celebrated its 10 year anniversary with a joint meeting at the International Federation Secretariat in Geneva in June 2006.

World Alliance of YMCAs (Young Men's Christian Associations)
Dr. Bart Shaha, Secretary General
The World Alliance of YMCA’s is a federation of YMCAs in 124 countries
with a membership of 45 million. YMCAs seek to share the Christian ideal
of building a human community of peace with justice for all, irrespective
of race, class, religion, or gender. Formed in 1844, the YMCA is one of
the largest and oldest youth movements in the world.

World YWCA (Young women's Christian Associations)

The World YWCA unites 25 million women and girls in over 100 countries through 94 affiliated, autonomous national YWCAs in a world wide Women's International movement. The purpose of the World YWCA is to develop the leadership of and collective power of women and girls around the world, to achieve human rights , health, security, dignity, freedom, justice and peace.

World Organisation of the Scout Movement

There are 28 million Scouts, boys and girls, in 215 countries and territories. Scouting is education for life. It contributes to developing young people's full potential to help build a better world of autonomous, supportive, responsible and committed persons, who play a constructive role in society locally, nationally and internationally.

World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts

The World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts is the largest voluntary organization for girls and young women, with nearly 10 million members. Through its Member Organizations in 140 countries, WAGGGS provides a dynamic, flexible, values-based non formal education programme, relevant to girls' needs. Based on spiritual values, WAGGGS has a commitment to peace and world citizenship.

The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies

The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies is a humanitarian organization with a unique world-wide network. It exists to improve the lives of vulnerable people, providing assistance without discrimination and promoting humanitarian values. The Red Cross Red Crescent youth and volunteer networks has worked to prevent and alleviate human suffering since 1864.

The International Award Association
Paul Arengo-Jones, Secretary General
The International Award is an exciting self-development Programme available to ail young people worldwide, equipping them with life skills to make a difference to themselves, their communities and their world. To date over 4 million young people from over 100 countries have been motivated to undertake a variety of voluntary and challenging activities.

The Alliance of Youth CEOs originated in late 1995 from a joint initiative of Dr Jacques Moreillon, Secretary General of the World Organization of the Scout Movement, and Mr Paul Arengo-Jones, Secretary General of the International Award Association.
