UN Population Fund
The UN Population Fund (UNFPA) is an international development agency that promotes the right of every woman, man and child to enjoy a life of health and equal opportunity.
UNFPA supports countries in using population data for policies and programmes to reduce poverty and to ensure that every pregnancy is wanted, every birth is safe, every young person is free of HIV/AIDS, and every girl and woman is treated with dignity and respect.
World Scouting enjoys official status with UNFPA. The mutual interest of the two organisations in the field of health has come into fruition on the global and state levels. On the international level, World Scouting sent delegates to the 3rd World Conference on Population in 1994 and to the meeting to establish a Youth Advisory Panel in 2004. On the national level, there has been a number of joint ventures focusing on increasing youth's awareness of reproductive health; the ongoing Family Life Education Programme and the HIV/AIDS Education Programme, both in the Africa Region, are two examples.
