Power Camp supports Bangladesh government energy saving campaign

Bangladesh Scouts collaborates with the Power Division of the Bangladesh government to organize the Power Camp, a simultaneous gathering of 579 camps across the country from 18th to 21st December 2011.

The camp is expected to bring together around 40,000 Scouts, Rover Scouts, Scouters and government officials. It is designed to educate participants on power consumption, targeting a wider participation of young people in energy-saving awareness campaigns that they could later share in their schools.

Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the camp through video-conferencing with Scouts on 18th December from “Gonobhaban.” National television and other media will telecast the programme live.

To ensure the success of the camp, a series of preparatory courses were held at national, regional and local levels participated both by Scouts and Power Department officials.

A training handbook is published and a press conference is arranged on 17th December 2011.
