1. Ene 2009
The World Scouting is present during the flagship event that showcases Development and its actors in Europe, the European Development Days in Stockholm from 22 to 24 October 2009. Don’t hesitate to visit the stand!
With the support of the Swedish Council of Scouts and Guides, the World Organization of the Scout Movement is holding a stand to present Scouting and its role in Development. The stand shows both that the Scout method and its values as well as the actions of Scouts across the world are crucial elements for Development policies. A number of projects run in different countries and Regions across the world are presented.
On Friday 23 October, Scouting will have the opportunity to present itself and its actions in the development field from 11.40am during the seminar “Active Citizenship – Education for a Better World - The role of youth organizations in achieving the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs)”
The European Development Days are a yearly event hosted jointly by the European Commission and the EU Presidency. They bring some 4,000 people and 1,500 organisations from the development community together on an equal footing. Delegates from 125 countries are represented, including heads of state and leading world figures, Nobel prizewinners among them.
The event aims to make development aid more effective, to build a global coalition against poverty and achieve the Millennium Development Goals. Through debates on pressing issues, such as governance, poverty and environmental sustainability, the European Development Days provide opportunities for sharing ideas and launching innovative partnerships.
