Caribbean Chiefs Commisionners Conference in Bahamas

The Scout Association of The Bahamas played host to the Caribbean Chief Commissioner's Conference held at SuperClubs Bahamas ( Breezes) when 26 senior Leaders of Caribbean Scouting where in attendance. Leaders from Jamaica, Guyana, Trinidad & tobago, Grenada, Suriname, British Virgin Islands, Aruba and Curacao. Also in attendance was Michael Bradshaw, Member of the Inter-American Scout Committee, Ron Richardson, Caribbean Executive from World Scout Bureau - Interamerican Region, and Dr Rafe Lucado of Panama Chairman of The Inter-American Scout Conference, which takes place in Panama this year.

The theme of the Conference was " Renewal Of Caribbean Scouting " The Official Opening Ceremony was held at Government House and the sessions at SuperClub Breezes.

John Phillpot President of the Association, as Chairman of the Caribbean Chief Commissioner Steering Committee, was the Conference Chairman assisted by the Chief Commissioner of the Bahamas Brian Christie.

Among the items on the Agenda where the Jamaica Centenary Jamboree, The Inter-American Scout Conference, World Scout Conference in Curitiba Brazil, setting up of a Caribbean Disaster Team. Youth Network and Youth in decision making, taking into consideration the report and recommendations of the Youth Forum that was held in Guyana during the Carib-Jam 2009, to promoto and stimulate the presence of youth representatives at meetings of World Scout Conference Inter-American Scout Conference and all Youth Network Conference, Financing and Adult Recruitment and the setting up of a Adult Resource Website.

Also at the same time the Caribbean National Training Commissioner held a follow up meeting to a meeting held in Curacao last year, items on the agenda to establish a Caribbean Training calendar, Estabish a Training Web Site and a team of roving Trainers to work in the Caribbean to assist Associations who need help
