New generation of trainers in The former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia

A four-day Training of Trainers course was organised in the period 3-7 November, 2011 in an old monastery of St. Joakim Osogovski near the town of Kriva Palanka in the north eastern part of The former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia.

The training was designed and supported by the Danish Leadership Project trainers’ pool in cooperation with trainers from the Region and the Scouts of Savez Izvica Makedonia.. 20 Scout leaders from Sojuz na Izvidnici na Makedonija (SIM), participated in the course.
The aim of the course was to increase the overall experience and number of trainers in SIM, as well as to provide training support in the establishment of new teams of commissioners in the association.
Specific training objectives were:

  • To choose and use basic presentation techniques
  • To understand the principles and common vocabulary for planning and communicating concerning courses and training sessions
  • To understand and use the above in a Scouting context

Some of the modules that were covered during the training included: the purpose of training system (framework), training experience (“learning by doing”), a catalogue of methods, discussing training practices, project planning, learning goals, training values, etc.
The training provided not only knowledge and skills, but also a great impulse and enthusiasm to the participants who made concrete plans for their work in the future.
