Bangladesh CNV sets new level of participation

Dhaka, 24th September 2010 – Continuing the series of Committee NSO Visits (CNV) in the Asia-Pacific Region, leaders of Bangladesh Scouts and the Regional Scout Committee kick off today the 3-day meeting in Dhaka. First Vice-Chairman Prakorb Mukura heads the regional team.

This Bangladesh visit is the 17th visit to NSOs under the CNV program and so far the largest CNV team. Constituting the visiting team are 2nd Vice-Chairman Dr Mukhyddin bin Sarwani, Dr Chao-Shou Po and Shree Ram Lamichanne, Consultant Mohammad Ali Khalid, Regional Director Abdullah Rasheed and Director S Prassanna Shrivastava.

Chief National Commissioner Abul Kalam Azad leads the Bangladesh Scouts team. Joining him are National Commissioners, Assistant National Commissioners and Scout Executives.

This morning, key position holders gave presentations on constitution, mission and vision, organization and special projects. Presentors are National Commissioner for Rules and Growth Mr. AKM Istiaq Husain; National Commissioner of Extension Scouting and Foundation Dr. Nizammuddin Ahmed; National Commissioner for Organization Prof. Md Sayedur Rahman; and Deputy National Commissioner International Mr Syed Rafiq. A number of commissioners and deputy commissioners are taking part in the dialogue, making it the largest CNV gathering so far. Other presentors will follow in the next two days.

The meeting is being held at the national headquarters starting with a simple ceremony in the presence of the President of Bangladesh Scouts, Mr Mohammed Momtazul Islam.

This 3-day visit from 24th to 26th September 2010 was preceded by the First Preparatory Meeting for the 24th APR Scout Conference in 2012 to be hosted by Bangladesh Scouts. Co-chairing the meeting were Vice-Chairman Prakorb Mukura, Host Organizing Committee Chairman Habibul Alam and National Chief Commissioner Abdul Kalam Azad.

Major preparatory details have been worked out and a report will be presented to the forthcoming Regional Scout Committee meeting later in October. In early November the first announcement about the conference will be released through a regional circular.
