Singapore Scouts host first-ever international Airboree

Close to 170 participants from the Singapore Scout Association (SSA) and 10 other Asia Pacific countries took part in the world first ever International Airboree held in Singapore from 11-16 February 2014.
The airboree was organised by the SSA, in partnership with the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore and the Ministry of Education, in conjunction with the Singapore Airshow 2014.
Mrs. Josephine Teo, Senior Minister of State for Finance & Transport officiated the opening ceremony on 12 February 2014 at the Sarimbun Scout Camp.
Chief Commissioner Tan Cheng Kiong said, “A key aim of Scouting is to help our young people understand the world better. Aviation is a key aspect of our lives and Singapore is an aviation hub. Singapore Scouts are happy to offer the scouts from the region this opportunity to learn about aviation in a fun-filled way.”
The participants aged between 14 and 20 were involved in activities centred on the theme “ Together we can fly” and be treated to an exclusive visit to the Singapore Airshow 2014, various aviation companies and educational sites. The activities allowed the participants to learn more about the history of aviation, the different sectors and many job opportunities that are offered in the industry
