Newly appointed. Maurice Machenbaum, Treasurer to the World Scout Committee.

 

The World Scout Committee appoints a new World Treasurer!

The World Scout Committee has appointed Mr Maurice Machenbaum, a 37 year old Swiss citizen, to the position of Treasurer of the World Scout Committee. Maurice is a graduate in Law and has a Master's degree in Humanitarian Action from the University of Geneva.

Scouting is well known to Maurice who has been Cub Scout Leader, Scout Group Leader, Trainer of Cub Scout Leaders and founder of Scout groups comprising street children (boys and girls) in Tegucigalpa, Honduras. He also participated in the 1995 and 1999 World Jamborees, among other international events.

Maurice started his career in 1994 as Street Educator with an NGO Casa Alianza in Honduras. In 1995 he became Assistant to the Executive Director for Latin America of the same NGO. In 1998 he founded Casa Alianza Nicaragua, an International NGO dedicated to the defence and rehabilitation of street children in Central America and Mexico, and became its Programme Director.

In 2003, he joined Terre des Hommes Lausanne, Switzerland's largest independent child-focussed NGO, where he held the position of Programme Director for Latin America (Brazil, Colombia, Peru, Ecuador and Haiti).

Since 2004, Maurice has been the Executive Director of WISE (www.wise.net) a company that he founded with a friend which facilitates links between wealthy individuals and social entrepreneurs.
