World Organisation of the Scout Movement (WOSM) is happy to announce the launch of its latest publication, Guidelines on Spiritual and Religious Development.

These guidelines have been prepared to support Scout Associations in the development of the spiritual aspect of their members. It provides principles and guidance to support programme design rather more than a detailed discussion of the nature of spiritual development. It will take as the norm, the understanding of Spiritual Development articulated and reaffirmed by the World Scout Conference in its various Conference resolutions and documents.

 

Following an open process carried out in collaboration and agreement with the Interamerica Regional Scout Committee, Luc Panissod, Secretary General of World Scouting appointed Mr Raul Sanchez Vaca, from Mexico as the new Regional Director of the World Scout Bureau, Interamerican Regional Office.

Geneva, 9th March 2010 – A working group on issues related to the growth of the Scout Movement, is being held at the World Scout Bureau since Monday. This meeting brings together the professional staff of the World and Regional Bureaus who are in tasked to assess this question as promoters of Growth.

 

Every Year on the 8th of March, millions of women and men around the world join to celebrate International Women's Day.

Since 1910 in Denmark, IWD has been internationally recognized as the day to honor women in our society as they play a great role in the shaping and building of the society we live in today. The 8th of March is also a day that we share in advocating for the rights to work, vote, be trained, hold public office and end discrimination towards women.

 

World Scoutings Secretary General, Luc Panissod had the pleasure of meeting with Curacao's Prime Minister, Mrs Emily de Jongh-Elhage during a visit to the Interamerican Scout Region. He was accompanied by a delegation of Scouting Antiano, Frensel Lacruz, Chief Commissioner, Regis Mercera President, Scouting Antiano, Daniel Corsen Secretary, Scouting Antiano and Daniel Corsen Jr Youth Advisor for the Interamerican Region.

 

In January, 2010, Ten Young men and women from all over the country gathered for two weekends for the first time in Costa Rica to explore, respond and take action within the Scouts of the World Award.

 

After the commemoration of February 22, Founders day, which saw millions of Scouts get together think, remember and pay respects to the Founder of the Movement. We propose to continue in debating on the cause of Scouting by reacting to the following themes: Education in Love, Education in Peace, Education of Boys and Girls and Learning by Doing.

Cause: That for which we do something (goal, reason, motive) or principal from which something extracts its being (foundation, origin, engine)

From the 4 themes chosen from quotes extracted from Baden-Powell's texts, we invite you to take part in the debate.
