The Romany People - On the way to integration
In Slovakia, the Scout Movement is working to combat the exclusion of Romany children. But although Romany Scouting in Slovakia has had some success, it has also encountered many problems and challenges, especially those associated with prejudice.
Adapted to the reality of their community, the initiatives of Romany Scouts use every experience to develop as a strong and reliable force for young people. Transnational by nature, the Romany people are not bound by borders, a fact which the Romany youth participating in their first Jamboree were able to share in Serbia in July 2004. For them, this was an opportunity to teach others about their relatively little-known culture.
